Gender-based violence (GBV) is violence that, is directed at an individual based on their biological sex or gender identity. It includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, threats, coercion.

The Foundation hears a lot about gender-based violence (GBV) in the informal communities across South Africa. The Mark Fish Foundation with the support of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, went to the Ramaohosa Informal Settlement, close to Johannesburg to bring its topic to light in the community.

The Mark Fish Foundation discussed Gender-based violence (GBV) with the communities. But went a little further by planting trees that will provide shade for the community in a few years. We also made some time for the children. The children were beyond excited to show their skills as well as their talent on the soccer pitch to Mark Fish.

Gary Lewis and his team from Tapout Fitness joined The Mark Fish Foundation to show the children of the informal settlement self-defense moves to protect themselves.
